Shadow Cactus

A girl once sat in front of a cactus

She noticed that there was a bloom, but it wasnt open yet

Curious to see the beauty her Mom had described to her, she came every day to wait for the flower to open

Day after day she waited

And one day the bloom withered away

Appalled that it never opened and at the wasted days, she stormed away

While walking the canyons, her frustrations never lifted

An angry bee in her head , getting louder and louder

One night, she lay awake in her bed and chose to face her frustrations

She realized she was going every day at the same time

Maybe it’s too hot for a delicate flower in the summer heat

There was an unusually bright full moon, not a cloud in the sky

She loved those silver nights

She ventured out, looking for another cactus, just like the one who taunted her days before

And so she found the beautiful full moon flowers
